Bundled vs Unbundled Hearing Aid Pricing
A hearing aid price is only comparable once you know what it covers. The sellers recorded on this site sit at different points between “everything in” and “devices only”.
Mostly bundled: Costco
Costco's Hearing Aid Center lists a free hearing test for members 18 or older and free service appointments for aids bought there; custom earmolds are extra and prices vary by state. Its packages start at $1,599.99 a pair. See the Costco page.
Partly unbundled: an online seller with local fitting
ZipHearing's price includes fitting by a local provider, free follow-ups for the first year, a 3-year warranty and a 45-day trial. It leaves out the hearing test ($0 to $150), custom earmolds ($50 each), accessories, and follow-ups after year one (up to $65 each). A loss claim carries a $350 deductible per aid.
Worked example with the cheapest model it lists, Oticon Jet at $2,098:
| Item | Amount |
|---|---|
| Pair price | $2,098 |
| Hearing test, top of stated range | $150 |
| Two custom earmolds | $100 |
| First-year total | $2,348 |
Devices first: maker stores
OTC makers sell the devices with an app and remote support. Trials and warranties differ by maker; Jabra Enhance adds three years of audiology services to its direct Select models, while others list a trial and warranty only. See online direct.
Questions worth asking any seller
Is the hearing test included, and what does it cost if not? How many follow-up visits are included, and for how long? What is the trial length and the restocking fee, if any? What does a lost aid cost to replace? Those four answers turn a sticker price into a comparable one. The price list has every model.
